The National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) exists since 01.01.2002.
NRIC is a trader, a state enterprise under article 62, paragraph 3 of the Commerce Law,
established on the strength of article 9, paragraph 1 of the Railway Transport Act (RTA). NRIC is
the manager of the railway infrastructure.
NRIC organizes, carries out and is responsible for meeting its obligations under a long-term
agreement, concluded between the company and the state. The company organizes its entire activity
on the basis of researches, prognoses and programs for the development of the rail- way
infrastructure in keeping with this agreement.

NRIC is beneficiary of all projects included in Priority axis I – Development of the railway
infrastructure across the Trans – European and the main national transport axes, one project
included in Priority axis III – Improvement of the intermodality for the transportation of people
and freights and one project included in Priority axis V – Technical assistance for Operational
Program on Transport 2007 – 2013
